Wisdom Teeth

Dave de Fijter - 10/10/2008 - 15:19

Today was the day 3 of my Wisdom Teeth got pulled.

About a month ago my dentist told me the time had come; So I made an appointment at the hospital. From then on the scaring began. All the people I spoke to told me it was horrible and they all wished me the best of luck. I just kept believing that It couldn't be THAT bad, no nerves, just a stupid thing that needed to be done.

So there I was sitting in that chair, waiting for the oral surgeon. First they made a x-ray of my teeth in a special 3d Rontgen machine, jeez, that's a lot nicer as that thing the dentist got. After that the surgeon came to me with 6 large syringes. He placed them all on strategic places in my mouth; I only had a little bit of pain when he placed them, nothing special. After that I had to wait in that same chair for 15 minutes; 15 very long minutes.

My lips and tongue started to swell (at least it felt like that) and the seduction kicked in; I couldn't feel my lips any more when my tongue went over it; A very strange feeling. After the long waiting they lowered my chair even further and the 15 minute surgery began.

Knives entering my mouth, started cutting, It was actually quite funny. They inserted some instrument and it looked like they were trying to break my teeth with a screwdriver or something. They first removed the hardest one (on my bottom jaw); The other to were easy compared to that one. This was also the only one they had to stitch. All in all I didn't feel a thing during the whole surgery; The last time my dentist filled a gap was far worse.

After the surgery I made a new appointment for next week (they need to remove some special bandage or something) and got my medicine. I'm still seduced in my mouth so I don't feel anything right now, so far so good. For everyone that needs their Wisdom Teeth removed I have one thing to say; Don't worry, just do it :)
